Who We Use For What & Why

Here is a list of suppliers we use at Share Salisbury. We aim to use the most ethical in the market to put our money where our mouth is. We review suppliers on a regular basis and ones that aren’t in line with our own ethical policies, will look to replace with something more ethical when possible. If you know of a good alternative, we would love to hear from you with your recommendation.

We use Eco Web Hosting to host our website and emails as they “actively seek to reduce their impact on the world” by using green energy suppliers, eco-friendly technology and working with tree planting organisations to plant trees for each website they host.

MyTurn

This is the platform we use to host our online Library of Things, they support community not-for-profit groups while promoting a circular economy which in turn helps to look after the environment.

We chose this to create the website as it is opensource and therefore free so saves us from additional costs. A whopping 35% of websites are created on WordPress, so they must be doing something right!

We use this all-in-one emailing software as it helps us to keep our mailing list up to date and contact information stored in line with the regulations of GDPR & The Data Protection Act 2018.

We use leafletfrog for most of our large printing needs.  They use vegetable inks, FSC approved paper and go to great lengths to make sure their printing is as environmentally friendly as possible.

This is the only not-for-profit browser and is also completely opensource. They attempt to find the perfect balance between commercial profit and public benefit and believe that privacy is fundamental and not optional.

DuckDuckGo

We use this search engine as it does not track you like google does. It also will provide unbiased search results.

Ecosia

This is another search engine we use. Ecosia plant a tree for each search that goes through their site, they have planted over 114,000,000!

We use, but would like to replace soon...

We currently use Microsoft Office but would love to change to a more ethical alternative, if you have a suitable alternative, please get in touch.

 Zoom

For video conferencing, we use the free version of zoom, if you use a good alternative, hit us up!

Lloyds Bank

We had dreams of banking with Triodos who are one of the highest rated banks for their ethics but they only accespt businesses with a turnover over £50,000… thats a lot of borrows!
